Marlins Drop Phillies

     The Miami Marlins outscored the Philadelphia Phillies 12-8 on Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park. It was the first game of a doubleheader between both clubs. There was a brief ceremony prior to the contest honoring Marlins Spanish-language radio play-by-play announcer Felo Ramirez who passed away on Monday.
     In the top of the first, Miami(61-62) took a 1-0 lead. Christian Yelich hit a double which scored Dee Gordon.
     Philadelphia(45-78) responded with two runs in the bottom of the first. Rhys ripped a two-run homer that hit the top of the center-field fence and went over. Nick Williams was able to score in front of him on the play.
     The Marlins tied it up 2-2 in the second inning. Miguel Rojas grounded out to short for Derek Dietrich to score.
     Both teams exchanged runs in the fifth. Giancarlo Stanton had an RBI double for the Fish to right-center field and Rojas crossed the plate. Cameron Rupp popped a solo homer to right on a 0-1 pitch for the Phils.
     Miami put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh as they had six runs in the frame. Ichiro Suzuki lined a three-run homer to right-center field on a 3-1 count which scored Tomas Telis and Rojas. Stanton later got a solo homer to right field on a 1-1 pitch for his 46th home run of the year. Two batter later, Marcell Ozuna smacked a two-run home run to left on a 1-2 count.
     The Phillies answered in the bottom of the seventh. Maikel Franco hit a sacrifice fly into right-center field to score Tommy Joseph. Cesar Hernandez belted a solo home run to center on a 2-1 pitch in the eighth inning.
     The Fish extended their margin to 12-5 during the ninth. J.T. Realmuto connected with a three-run homer to right and Yelich along with Ozuna scored.
