The Carol City Chiefs face the Miami Northwestern Bulls on Thursday night at Traz Powell Stadium. Both rivals were in the same district for the past four years prior to 2019.
Carol City(1-0) was shifted to Class 4A for this season. Things started well for the Chiefs as they handled the Deerfield Beach Bucks 24-12 in their home opener.
Miami Northwestern(1-0) won the last two FHSAA Class 6A state titles and were moved to Class 5A. The Bulls shut out the defending Class 5A state champions the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs 32-0 in the season opener. Their quarterback core of Kamani Brown and Taron Dickens can get the ball to wide receivers Kahill Brantley and Marcus Fleming. Running back Nathaniel Noel is expected to get most of the carries from the backfield.
