The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders travel across the country to Concord, California and face the De La Salle Spartans on Friday night. The contest will be broadcast on national television and all South Florida high school football games will be completed for them to have an open window of exposure.
Both schools played each other once in September 2011 at Brian Piccolo Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. The Raiders were able to outscore the Spartans 30-6.
St. Thomas Aquinas lost the FHSAA Class 7A state championship game to Lakeland last year. It was the first time that STA fell in a state title game since 2006 and Lakeland was their opponent.
The Raiders have once again reloaded on both offense and defense. Running back Jaedon Henry is expected to get some carries while wide receivers Marcus Rosemy, Jahvante Royal and The'Andris Freeman can make pass receptions. Their defense is led by linebacker Derek Wingo and defensive back Colby Dempsey transferred from Dwyer to join the team.
