The Miami Marlins defeated the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 in 12 innings on Thursday night at Marlins Park. The Fish were able to avoid the four-game sweep and will begin a road trip against the Washington Nationals on Friday. Reds radio play-by-play announcer Marty Brennaman announced his last baseball game in Miami.
Cincinnati(63-70) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Aristides Aquino homered to left field on a 0-1 count with Joey Votto on base. It was the 14th home run by Aquino in the month of August.
Miami(48-85) eventually climbed over the Red Legs. They got solo home runs from Jon Berti in the first, Austin Dean in the fifth and Starlin Castro in the sixth.
The Reds tied it up 3-3 in the eighth inning. Aquino knocked in Votto with a base hit to center field.
In the 12th inning, the Marlins got a walk-off victory on a home run by Harold Ramirez to left field on a 1-1 pitch. It was the fourth walk-off win for Miami this season.
