The Cincinnati Reds shut out the Miami Marlins 5-0 at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. It continued to be a bad stretch for the Marlins as they have lost 10 of their last 12 games. The Fish were blanked for the 19th time this season.
In the first inning, Cincinnati(63-69) powered out to a 3-0 lead. Aristides Aquino blasted a three-run homer to left field on a 2-2 pitch. Joey Votto and Eugenio Suarez both were able to score on the play.
The Reds expanded the lead to 4-0 in the top of the fifth. Tucker Barnhart doubled to right which brought in Aquino.
Miami(47-85) gave up another run in the eighth inning. Suarez placed a solo home run over the left-center field fence on a 0-1 count.
