Marlins Hold Off Blue Jays

     The Miami Marlins outlasted the Toronto Blue Jays 14-11 in 10 innings at Sahlen Field on Wednesday night and snapped a three-game losing streak. It was the second Major League Baseball game ever played in Buffalo. The Marlins will finally have their home opener of the 2020 season as they host the Atlanta Braves on Friday. 
     In the first inning, Miami(8-4) rocketed out to a 3-0 lead. Brian Anderson bashed a three-run homer to left field on a 2-0 pitch. Corey Dickerson and Matt Joyce were able to score on the play. 
     The Marlins chalked up five more runs n the top of the third. They had the bases loaded when Eddy Alvarez walked and Dickerson crossed the plate. Two batters later, Magneuris Sierra beat Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the first-base bag for an infield single and Joyce scored. Francisco Cervelli would score from third on a passed ball with Jonathan Villar at the plate. 
     The bases were filled again and the Blue Jays tried a pick-out attempt to second from their catcher Danny Jansen after a pitch. Alvarez capitalized on the mistake and stole home for a seven-run margin. Jesus Aguilar then drove in Sierra with a single into right field for an 8-0 gap. 
     Toronto(6-9) broke the shutout in the bottom of the frame. Teoscar Hernandez belted a two-run homer to left-center field on a 1-0 pitch which scored Bo Bichette.
     They added two more runs in the fourth inning and trailed 8-4. Rowdy Tellez popped a two-run shot to right-center field on a 0-1 pitch with Randal Grichuk aboard. 
     In the fifth inning, the Fish compiled three runs to go up 11-4. Villar knocked in Cervelli with a base hit into center field. Aguilar came up next and connected with a two-run single to right as Alvarez and Jon Berti scored. 
     The Blue Jays answered back in the bottom of the frame with two runs. Travis Shaw cracked the first pitch over the left-field wall for Bichette to score on the home run. 
     The deficit became 11-8 in the sixth for Toronto. Jansen lined a two-run homer to left-center on a 1-0 pitch and Tellez crossed the plate. 
     Another home run for the fifth straight inning by the Blue Jays in the bottom of the seventh cut the deficit down to 11-9. Guerrero hammered a solo home run to center for his second round-tripper of the season. 
     It became a tie game 11-11 in the eighth inning. Toronto was able to get solo home runs from Bichette and Shaw. 
     In the 10th inning, Miami lashed out with three runs for a 14-11 lead. Sierra drove in Alvarez and Berti with a single into right field. Two batters later, Sierra scored on a base hit by Aguilar to right.
