The Rays make it a five-run gap in the top of the fourth. Kevan Smith grounded into a force out at third with the bases loaded and Brian O'Grady scored. Brian Anderson made a throwing error to first for Kevin Kiermaier to score.
Miami(14-15) finally got on the scoreboard at Marlins Park against the Rays for the first time in forty innings during the bottom of the fourth. Corey Dickerson powered a solo home run to right-center field on a 2-1 pitch.
In the fifth inning, Tampa Bay added four more runs on one play. Willy Adames lifted a grand slam homer barely over the left-field fence on a 2-0 count. Choi, Diaz and Tsutsugo all scored in front of Adames.
Hunter Renfroe later doubled off the right-field wall and O'Grady crossed the plate for a 10-1 lead. Kiermaier came up next and walloped a two-run home run to right-center field on a 1-1 pitch to score Renfroe.
The Marlins cut the large deficit in the bottom of the frame. Lewis Brinson nailed a solo home run to left-center field on a 2-1 count. It was his first home run in the majors since September 7, 2018.
The Fish made it 12-3 in the sixth inning. Garrett Cooper smashed the first pitch over the left-center field fence for a solo homer.
Miami closed it to 12-7 in the bottom of the seventh. Cooper hit a double down the left-field line that scored Chad Wallach, Jon Berti and Dickerson. Matt Joyce followed with a single to right field which brought in Cooper.
