Chris Perkins Joins Sports Illustrated

Longtime South Florida sports journalist Chris Perkins has joined Sports Illustrated. He will be the University of Miami Hurricanes writer for the SI.com website. He once did cover the Canes from 1997 to 1999 with the Palm Beach Post.
Perkins recently worked for The Athletic Miami as the Miami Dolphins beat reporter. He was the first media member to join that organization in August 2018 and stayed there until June 2020.
He was at the Palm Beach Post and held several positions. They included Miami Hurricanes writer, Miami Dolphins writer and Miami Heat beat reporter. His position with the Palm Beach Post was eliminated when the newspaper decided to no longer cover the Miami Heat on a regular basis in the middle of the 2009-10 season. He also had short stints with NBA.com as a basketball writer and Fox Sports Florida.com as a Miami Heat reporter.
Perkins landed at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as a sports columnist. He was soon elevated to the position of Miami Dolphins beat reporter and held the spot until August 2018.
He also was part of sports shows on South Florida radio. Perkins was a morning co-host alongside Armando Salguero and Larry Milian on 640 Sports WMEN-AM from August 2011 to August 2012. He was an afternoon co-host with Ethan J. Skolnick and later Curtis Stevenson on Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM from late 2016 to August 2019.
