Marlins Get By Mets

The Miami Marlins defeated the New York Mets 4-3 at Citi Field on Friday night. The Marlins extended their winning streak to six games.
Miami(7-1) piled all of their runs during the second inning. Francisco Cervelli blasted a three-run homer to right field on the first pitch which brought in Brian Anderson and Matt Joyce. Jonathan Villar later doubled into center field and Magneuris Sierra scored.
New York(5-9) answered with one run in the bottom of the frame. Dominic Smith lifted a solo home run to right field on a 1-1 count.
The Mets cut the deficit to 4-3 in the eighth inning. Michael Conforto reached first on a fielder's choice at third with the bases loaded and Amed Rosario crossed the plate. J.D. Davis then lined a base hit into left field to score Brian Dozier.
