Mets Pull Away From Marlins

     The New York Mets handled the Miami Marlins 8-3 at Marlins Park on Tuesday night. The Marlins have lost four straight games and seven of their last nine contests. 
     New York(11-14) opened up the scoring in the third inning. Brandon Nimmo blasted a solo home run to right-center field on a 1-0 pitch. 
     The Mets added on two runs in the following frame. J.D. Davis belted a solo homer over the center-field wall on a 1-0 count. Dominic Smith later hit a ground-rule double to left field which scored Michael Conforto. 
     In the bottom of the fourth, Miami(9-8) got on the scoreboard. Jesus Aguilar knocked in Matt Joyce on a double to deep right. Two batters later, Aguilar scored on a base hit by Brian Anderson into right field to make it 3-2. 
     New York extended their lead to 4-2 in the seventh inning. Amed Rosario ripped a solo home run on a 2-1 pitch to left field. 
     Four more runs scored for the Mets in the top of the eighth inning. Smith walked was the bases loaded and Conforto crossed the plate. Rosario came up next and drove in Robinson Cano along with Pete Alonso on a two-run single to right. Nimmo then singled to right and pinch-runner Billy Hamilton scored for an 8-2 lead. 
     The Fish scored in the ninth inning and closed it to 8-3. Magneuris Sierra hit the ball down the third-base line and Francisco Cervelli scored following a throwing error by Edwin Diaz.
