Florida Panthers majority owner Vincent Viola will not end up becoming a co-owner of the New York Mets. He was involved with Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez as one of remaining three bidding groups that wanted to buy the Mets from Palm Beach resident Fred Wilpon along with his son Jeff Wilpon.
They did make the largest offer to the Wilpon family to buy the team. Mets minority owner Steven Cohen will now have the exclusive negotiations to purchase the club.
