Tommylee Lewis Signs With Carolina Panthers

Former local high school football player Tommylee Lewis has signed a contract with the Carolina Panthers. Lewis played high school football with the Dwyer Panthers as a wide receiver. He was with Northern Illinois University from 2011 until 2015.
Lewis was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints in 2016 and remained there for three seasons. He is best remembered as the wide receiver when a controversial defensive pass interference situation was not called by the game officials late in the fourth quarter of the 2018 NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams. The NFL later apologized for the missed call by the officiating crew. Lewis signed with the Detroit Lions in 2019 and did not play a regular season contest.
