FHSAA Fall Schedule Effects South Florida

The Florida High School Athletic Association Board of Directors voted on Friday to begin fall sports practices on August 24 and games on September 4. The decision will have different responses from school districts throughout the 67 counties of Florida.
Most South Florida high schools are not expected to follow that timetable set by the FHSAA due to coronavirus concerns. It means that fall sports practices such as football are not likely to start in the last week of August and that games will not occur on the first weekend of September. All high schools will have the option to opt out of the state series along with their sanctioned state schedules by September 18.
