Kraken Break Panthers

     The Florida Panthers fell to the Seattle Kraken 5-2 at FLA Live Arena on Sunday night. The Panthers lost twice to Seattle last season. It was Florida's third home defeat during the 2022-23 regular season. 
     Seattle(16-8-3) roared out to a 1-0 lead just 1:04 into the first period. Former Panthers player Jared McCann fed the puck from the left wing and Matty Beniers blasted a one-time slap shot from the high slot past Sergei Bobrovsky for his 11th goal of the season. 
     Florida(13-12-4) tied it up 1-1 at the 7:34 mark of the second period. Nick Cousins cycled the puck from the left wing to Colin White behind the Seattle cage. He centered it and Eric Staal snapped a shot from the low slot by Martin Jones. It was the first goal for Staal in a Panthers uniform. 
     The Kraken reclaimed the lead 2-1 at 9:05 of the second period. Oliver Bjorkstrand pushed the puck to Yanni Gourde in the right corner Andre Burarkovsky then put in a snap shot from the right circle for his 10th goal of the campaign. 
     In the third period, Seattle increased their lead to 3-1 at 7:15. Will Borgen passed the puck from the right point. Beniers rifled a slap shot from the top of the zone and Jordan Eberle deflected it in from the low slot for his seventh goal this season. 
     It became 4-1 for the Kraken with 4:51 left in the third on a power-play goal. Burakovsky placed a pass from the right wing. Alex Wennberg angled a pass from the high slot and Daniel Sprong blasted a one-time slap shot from the left circle for his sixth goal of the year. 
     Gourde added an empty-net goal for a four-goal Seattle margin with 2:38 remaining in the game. Panthers center Chris Tierney found the net for his second tally of the season as he scored with 1:14 to go and made it 5-2.
