Panthers Skip By Kraken

The Florida Panthers pulled away from the Seattle Kraken 5-1 at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday night. The Cats will finish their five-game road trip on Tuesday at Winnipeg.
It was the first time ever that the Panthers have defeated the Kraken in the regular season after three tries. Seattle, who had their seven-game winning streak snapped, was the first team to sweep the Cats in 2021-22.
Florida(12-8-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening frame. Carter Verhaeghe scored an even-strength goal with seven minutes remaining and put in a power-play goal 26 seconds later. He has now reached 14 goals on the season.
Seattle(15-6-3) got their lone tally of the contest at 1:53 mark of the second period. Former Panthers center Jared McCann found the net for his 11th goal this year and the Kraken trailed 2-1. The Cats regained a two-goal margin at 5:31 when Matthew Tkachuk scored on the man advantage for his 12th goal this season.
In the third period, the Panthers added two more goals for a 5-1 lead. Aleksi Heponiemi put in his first goal since the 2020-21 campaign at 7:49. Gustav Forsling blasted a power-play goal from long range with 6:57 remaining in the third as he chalked up his fourth goal this year.
