Miami Central And American Heritage Title Preview

     The Miami Central Rockets challenge the American Heritage Patriots in the FHSAA Class 2M state title game on Friday night at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Both South Florida high schools have always been in contention for a state championship over the past 10 years. 
     Miami Central(13-0) will attempt to win their fourth consecutive state championship and ninth overall in school history. The Rockets are currently riding a 25-game winning streak and have outscored their opponents 528-174 this year. They blasted St. Brendan 60-0 in a regional quarterfinal, edged local rival Miami Northwestern 34-30 in a regional semifinal, held off Miami Norland 34-20 in a regional final and downed Lakewood 39-21 in a state semifinal.
     The Rockets are led by quarterback Keyone Jenkins as he can run with the ball and pass it down the field. He can connect passes to wide receivers Corey Washington, Lamar Seymore, Cataurus Hicks, LeWayne McCoy and Anjuan Coleman. Running backs Ean Pope, Jonathan Harris, Nicholas McCall, Trevon Miller and backup quarterback Dylan Tulloch look to gain yardage. 
     American Heritage(13-1) looks to capture their sixth state championship since 2013. They last won at state title in 2020. The Patriots have outscored their opponents 555-181 this season and compiled three shutouts. They manhandled Inlet Grove 43-7 in the regional quarterfinal, shut out Boynton Beach 49-0 in the regional semifinal, defeated district foe Cardinal Gibbons 31-20 in the regional final and stopped Bolles 21-14 in the state semifinal. 
     The Patriots have a strong game on the ground with running backs Mark Fletcher, Jerry Dinkins and Byron Louis getting plenty of carries. Quarterback Blake Murphy will throw the ball and occasionally run out of the pocket. He intends to find wide receivers Brandon Inniss, Malachi Toney, Judah Stubbs and Jeffar Jean-Noel.
