Lakers Escape Heat

     The Los Angeles Lakers outlasted the Miami Heat 120-117 in overtime at Staples Center on Wednesday night. It was a rematch between the two teams from the 2020 NBA Finals. Miami lost consecutive games for the first time this season. 
     The Heat, who swept the regular season series against the Lakers last season, have defeated the Lakers in 16 of the last 25 regular season games. Former Miami Heat player LeBron James was injured and did not participate in the game. 
     Los Angeles(7-5) had a slight 28-25 advantage at the end of the first quarter.  Miami(7-4) caught up in the final seconds of the first half and led 57-55 at halftime. The Heat got up as much as seven points and led 86-82 after three quarters. 
     Miami scored 12 straight points to lead 102-93 with 6:47 left in the fourth. The Lakers came back to tie it 108-108 with 1:23 remaining on an 11-2 run. The contest went into overtime and Lakers outscored the Heat 8-5 in the extra period.    
     Miami was led by Bam Adebayo as he contributed 28 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the year. Tyler Herro dropped in 27 points. They compiled two other double-doubles as Kyle Lowry added 18 points along with 11 assists while P.J. Tucker had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Udonis Haslem played in his third contest of the 2021-22 campaign. 
     Russell Westbrook got his third triple-double of the season with 25 points, 14 assists and 12 rebounds for the Lakers. Anthony Davis chalked up 24 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Malik Monk came off the bench with 27 points. Two former Miami Heat players made an impact as Avery Bradley scored 17 points while Wayne Ellington got 12 points.
