Panthers Tie NHL Record Against Flyers

The Florida Panthers escaped with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night at FLA Live Arena. The Panthers tied a National Hockey League record and became the second team to begin a regular season with 11 consecutive wins. They now share that distinction with the 1963-64 Chicago Blackhawks.
The Panthers will get the opportunity to set the NHL record. The Cats host the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night.
Philadelphia(8-6-4) roared out to a 1-0 lead at the 7:33 mark of the first period. Joel Farabeee put in his fifth goal of the campaign.
Florida(14-2-3) evened it up 1-1 on a power-play tally at 3:59 of the third period. Sam Bennett scored from the low slot for his seventh goal of the season on assists from Anthony Duclair and Aaron Ekblad.
The game would be decided in overtime with 2:21 left. The Panthers ended the contest when Jonathan Huberdeau fed a pass from the low right circle and Ekblad snapped a shot from the slot area for his sixth goal this year.
