South Florida High Schools In Second Round

     30 South Florida high schools advanced to the second round of the 2021 FHSAA football playoffs. There were 51 representatives heading into the postseason. 31 high schools moved on to the second round back in 2019 when all Florida high schools opted in. 
     Palm Beach County took a tremendous hit as they dropped from 15 teams down to six. Palm Beach Central, Glades Central, Cardinal Newman and Glades Day won. Pahokee and Benjamin had a bye week. Atlantic, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Forest Hill, Wellington, Seminole Ridge, Palm Beach Gardens, American Heritage and St. Andrew's lost. 
     Broward County went from 19 teams to 13. St. Thomas Aquinas, American Heritage, Dillard, Deerfield Beach, Coconut Creek, Miramar, Plantation, Western, Stranahan and Pine Crest prevailed. Cardinal Gibbons, Chaminade-Madonna and Avant Garde had a bye. Fort Lauderdale, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, South Broward, Westminster Academy, Calvary Christian Academy and Coral Glades fell. 
     Dade County moved from 17 high schools to 11. Miami Central, Miami Northwestern, Miami Palmetto, Booker T. Washington, Columbus, Miami Edison, Miami Killian and Homestead got victories. Champagnat Catholic, Florida Christian and Gulliver Prep were off due to a bye. Doral Academy, Dr. Krop, North Miami Beach, Somerset Academy South Homestead, Immaculata-LaSalle and True North were defeated.
