Panthers Blow By Hurricanes

The Florida Panthers knocked off the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 at FLA Live Arena on Saturday night. Both clubs entered the game with the most points by teams in the National Hockey League.
It was the first time in NHL history that two clubs faced each other with season-opening point streaks of at least nine contests. The Panthers have not lost a game in regulation time during their first 11 games of the 2021-22 regular season. The Cats snapped the Hurricanes nine-game winning streak and gave the Canes their first loss of the campaign.
The Panthers tied an NHL record with the best start to begin a season after 11 games. Florida currently has the best goal differential in the league.
Florida(10-0-1) raced out to a 4-0 lead in the opening frame. Anthony Duclair started the rally with a power-play tally at the 2:28 mark and Frank Vatrano followed on a goal with the man advantage at 10:02. Anton Lundell made it a three-goal margin with 6:46 left in the first period. Patric Hornqvist placed his first goal of the year on the power play with 4:32 remaining in the first.
Carolina(9-1-0) cut it down to 4-2 during the second period. Jesper Fast broke the shutout at the 7:01 mark of the frame. Former Panthers center Vincent Trocheck scored a power-play goal with 4:40 left in the second.
The game was decided by the Panthers will 58.5 seconds to go in the third period. Duclair compiled his second goal of the contest and eight of the season and he put the puck into an empty net.
