The American Heritage Patriots leave Plantation and play the Eau Gallie Commodores in Melbourne. It is a Class 5A regional final contest on Friday night.
American Heritage(8-2) have played against three 2019 FHSAA state champions this season. They smashed Palm Bay 49-0 in a play-in game, ended the three-year title reign of Miami Northwestern 12-3 in a regional quarterfinal and handled Rockledge 26-14 in a regional semifinal. The Patriots have outscored their opponents 240-109 this year. Running backs Mark Fletcher and Jerry Dinkins will get their share of rushing opportunities. Quarterback Blake Murphy intends to find wide receivers Orande Gadsden II, Michael Watkins III, Nicholas Whitton, Vinson Davis III and Emory Clemons on passing attempts.
Eau Gallie(7-1) has scored at least 26 points in every contest this year except for their only loss to Cocoa. They have outscored their opponents 303-141 this season. The Commodores got by Merritt Island 26-18 in the play-in game, defeated Jensen Beach 48-20 in the regional quarterfinal and outlasted Cypress Lake 54-28 in the regional semifinal. Quarterback Cade Ross can toss the ball to wide receivers Tre Blake, Jamari Nelson, Kameron Blevins and Carnell Daivs. Running backs T.J. Johnson and Isiah Rivers-Rodriguez are expected rush the ball from the backfield.
