Bernie Rosen Passes Away

Longtime WVTJ-TV sports director Bernie Rosen has passed away at the age of 93. The station implemented the first sports department in Florida television in 1949 to compliment the local news department led by news anchor Ralph Renick.
Rosen was head of the sports department at WTVJ-TV when it was located on Channel 4 from 1949 to 1995. It was shifted to Channel 6 in 1995 and he remained there until 2014.
Many sportscasters had worked under him during his reign. Some went on to national organizations like Roy Firestone, Chris Myers, Suzi Kolber, Hank Goldberg, Jane Chastain, Lindsay Czarniak, Kristina Pink, Courtney Fallon and Andrea Brody.
Some of his on-air staffers had long reigns on the Miami television airwaves. They included Tony Segreto, Ned Smith, Karie Ross, Joe Rose, Craig Minervini, Guy Rawlings, Adam Kuperstein and Chris Fischer.
