Heat Top Pelicans In Home Opener

     The Miami Heat played their home opener and defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 111-98 on Friday at American Airlines Arena. The Heat played on Christmas Day for the first time since 2015. 
     They now have a NBA best 11-2 record on Christmas Day and have won eight straight games on December 25. Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra is now 8-0 on Christmas Day. 
     It was the first time that the Heat played a regular season game at the venue since March 11. The NBA suspended the 2019-20 season that night due to the coronavirus pandemic. 
     Miami(1-1) had a 20-9 spurt at the end of the first quarter and were up 29-26. The Heat outscored the Pelicans 27-9 to start the second quarter and led 66-53 by halftime. Duncan Robinson set an NBA record with six three-pointers in one half of a Christmas Day contest. The 13 three-point shots made by the team in the half tied a franchise record. 
     New Orleans(1-1) cut at the lead and trailed 88-79 after three quarters. They chopped it down to six points 91-85 with 7:43 left in the fourth, however Miami answered back with a 18-7 run. 
     Robinson led the Heat with 23 points and tied an NBA record with seven three-pointers in a Christmas Day game. Bam Adebayo dropped in 17 points while Goran Dragic had in 18 points and nine assists. Avery Bradley got 12 points and Tyler Herro drained in 11 points. 
     Zion Williamson delivered a double-double for the Pelicans with 32 points and 14 rebounds. Brnadon Ingram added 28 points and Josh Hart had 12 points.
