St. Thomas Aquinas And Edgewater Title Preview

     The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders challenge the Edgewater Eagles in the FHSAA Class 7A state title contest on Saturday night at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. It is a rematch of the championship game last year between both teams where the Raiders edged the Eagles 28-23. 
     St. Thomas Aquinas(7-1) look to capture a state-record 12th football championship. They have won four state championships in the last six seasons and eight titles in the last 13 years. STA have outscored their opponents 260-96 this season and won six straight games. The Raiders pounded Lehigh 50-13 in the regional quarterfinal, blanked Manatee 45-0 in the regional semifinal, defeated Venice 29-8 in the regional final and knocked off Bloomingdale 37-14 in the state semifinal. Running backs Anthony Hankerson and Corey Reddick will get their rushing attempts. Quarterback Zion Turner can run out of the pocket when necessary and pass the ball to wide receivers Bralon Brown, Quincy Skinner Jr. and Antonio Spencer. 
     Edgewater(8-2) have outscored their opponents 290-192 this year. The Eagles beat Forest 47-14 in a play-in game, won by forfeit over St. Cloud in a regional quarterfinal, shut out Viera 59-0 in a regional semifinal, downed Mitchell 28-21 in a regional final and got by Niceville 30-28 in a state semifinal. They can go with running backs Cedric Baxter, Khalil Washington and Kye Rivers on rushing opportunities. Quarterback Canaan Mobley is expected to complete passes to wide receivers Tommi Hill, Christian Leary, and Jeremiah Connelley.
