FHSAA South Florida State Semifinal Results

     South Florida large high schools played in the state semifinals of the 2020 FHSAA Playoffs. It ended up that three of the four local teams prevailed. 
      St. Thomas Aquinas were the only local school on the road and they handled Bloomingdale 37-14. The defending FHSAA Class 7A state champions advanced to the state title game for the 13th time in the last 17 years and 15h time since 2000. The Raiders will be looking to capture their FHSAA state-record 12th championship in next week against Edgewater.
     American Heritage was able to get by Jesuit 16-13 in Plantation and reached the Class 5A state title game for the first time since 2017. The Patriots will try to win their fifth football title in school history versus Rickards. 
     Miami Central outscored Palmetto 47-20 in the Class 6A state semifinal at Traz Powell Stadium. The Rockets will go for their second straight title against Lake Minneola next week in Tallahassee. 
     The only local participant to fall in the state semifinal round was Miami Palmetto. They hosted Osceola and lost 9-3.
