The South Florida Tri-County High School Football Playoffs continued with action in the second round. 24 high school teams participated with five from Palm Beach County, 12 from Broward County and seven from Dade County.
In the Class 8A gold bracket, #1 Columbus won via forfeit over #5 Monarch. #3 Deerfield Beach went on the road and topped #2 Western 34-27.
Class 8A silver bracket had #1 Palm Beach Gardens defeat #5 Miami 28-14. #2 Boca Raton were able to shut out #3 Coral Gables 24-0.
The gold bracket in Class 7A saw #1 Atlantic outscored #4 Miramar 46-21. #3 Dwyer went to #2 Plantation and fell 41-27.
The Class 7A silver bracket found two upsets. #5 Fort Lauderdale took #1 Blanche Ely 26-10 while #3 South Broward blanked #2 Everglades 35-0.
The small schools from Class 6A down to Class 1A competed. The gold bracket resulted in #2 Dillard knocking off #3 Glades Central 33-6 and #4 North Miami Beach surprising #1 Killian 34-16. The silver bracket had #2 Coconut Creek stop #3 Miami Springs 34-20 and #4 Miami Norland drop #1 Hallandale 34-7.
