Chaminade-Madonna At Berkeley Prep Preview

     The Chaminade-Madonna Lions head up to Tampa and face the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers on Friday night. It is a Class 3A state semifinal matchup for both teams and winner will play for the state championship in Tallahassee. 
     Chaminade-Madonna(7-1) are currently on a six-game winning streak. The defending three-time FHSAA Class 3A state champions have rolled through the competition during the playoffs. The Lions pounded Somerset Academy Silver Palms 52-0 in the regional quarterfinal, eased by Calvary Christian Academy 38-6 in the regional semifinal and shut out Miami Edison 28-0 in the regional final. They have outscored their opponents 254-74 this season. Their offense is based on their rushing game with running backs Thaddius Franklin and Davion Gause. Wide receivers Michael Edwards, Edwin Joseph and Joshua Jenkins can make pass receptions from quarterback Jaylon Tolbert. 
     Berkeley Prep(7-1) have won seven straight contests since a season opening loss to Jesuit. They have outscored their opponents 248-129 this year. The Buccaneers defeated Biship Verot 33-6 in a regional quarterfinal, breezed by Frostproof 35-6 in a regional semifinal and knocked off Lakeland Christian 31-8 in a regional final. They will mostly go with running the ball with running backs Travis Bates and Xavier Townsend. The primary target for quarterback Gavin Rupp on passes is wide receiver Renaldo Garcia II.
