Orange Bowl Passes Sun Bowl

The Orange Bowl in Miami and the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans will be alone as the second longest annual college football bowl games played behind the Rose Bowl. The Sun Bowl announced that their contest later this month will be canceled.
The Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl and the Sun Bowl had their first game occur on the same date January 1, 1935. All were played on an annual basis since then. The Rose Bowl started in 1902 and has been played annually since 1916.
