Plantation At Miami Northwestern Preview

     The Miami Northwestern Bulls host the Plantation Colonels at Traz Powell Stadium in a Class 6A regional final on Friday night. The winner will take on either Jesuit or Hillsborough in a state semifinal next week. Their only meeting was in 2004 and the Bulls got by the Colonels 35-21 in a regional quarterfinal. 
     Plantation(9-2) was the lowest-seeded team in Region 4 heading into the postseason. They have won three straight games and outscored their opponents 479-129 this season. The Colonels upset Dunbar 44-20 in the regional quarterfinal and surprised Coconut Creek 42-7 in the regional semifinal. Running backs Mekhi Sera and Shawn Wiliams are expected to have an impact with their rushing abilities from the backfield. 
     Miami Northwestern(9-3) have outscored their opponents 444-266 this year. They wiped out Fort Myers 71-19 in the regional quarterfinal and defeated Naples 45-34 in a regional semifinal. 
     The Bulls offense will be led by quarterback Taron Dickens, who can run out of the pocket for yardage and toss the ball. Running backs Jamari Ford, Marlin Cochran and King Davis will get the rushing opportunities. Wide receivers Daverrick Jenkins, Andy Jean, Adrian Harris, Rashad Davis and Jaiden Freckleton are expected to make catches from Dickens.
