Panthers Wipe Out Sabres

     Florida right wing Sam Reinhart returned to Buffalo for the first time as the Panthers blasted the Sabres 6-1 at KeyBank Center on Monday night. It began a stretch in which the Panthers will play nine of their next ten games on the road. 
     Florida have outscored their opponents 15-3 in the last three contests. The Panthers set a franchise record as they scored multiple power-play goals for the fourth straight game. 
     Florida(38-13-5) got a 1-0 lead at the 5:22 of the first period. Brandon Montour burned his former club with his sixth goal of the campaign as he beat Craig Anderson. 
     The Panthers dominated the second period with four goals in a 6:48 time span. Noel Acciari snapped a shot from the low left circle for his first tally of the year at the 5:54 mark. Anthony Duclair added a power-play goal from the low slot off a feed from Aleksander Barkov in the right circle at 7:39. Reinhart was credited with the secondary assist on the play. 
     Mason Marchment pushed the puck from the slot area and Carter Verhaeghe tapped the puck from the left of the crease with 8:21 left for his 17th goal this season. It turned out to be Marchment's third assist of the contest. 
     It became a 5-0 lead for the Cats with 7:18 remaining. Two passes by Sam Bennett and MacKenzie Weegar in the crease was finished off by a Patric Hornqvist forehand shot for his ninth goal of the season. 
     Buffalo(18-32-8) surrendered another power-play goal at the 6:50 mark of the third period. Duclair angled a diagonal pass from the right circle and Jonathan Huberdeau passed from the low left circle. Barkov then one-time a shot from the low slot for his 26th goal this season. 
     The Sabres finally got the puck by Spencer Knight with 6:18 to go. Rasmus Asplund fired a shot from the right wing and it was redirected in by John Hayden in the right circle for his second tally of the year.
