Panthers Come Back On Senators

     The Florida Panthers overcame a three-goal deficit to defeat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre. The Panthers are 9-1-1 in their last 11 contests.
     It was the Panthers 20th comeback win in 2021-22. The three comeback victories of three or more goals this season by Florida leads the National Hockey League. 
     Ottawa(23-36-6) pulled out to a 2-0 lead after one period. The Sens picked up goals from Alex Formenton at 7:54 and Artem Zub with 4:34 remaining in the first.  
     The Senators expanded it to 3-0 at the 6:47 mark of the second period. Dylan Gambrell chalked up his second tally of the year. 
     Florida(44-14-6) began the comeback at 8:55 of the frame on the power play. Anthony Duclair scored his 26th goal of the season on assists from Claude Giroux and Sam Reinhart. 
     The Cats cut it down to 3-2 midway through the second with 10:03 to go. Patric Hornqvist added his 10th goal this season. Gustav Forsling and Noel Acciari were credited with assists on the play. 
     In the third period, the Panthers tied it 3-3 with 2:16 left in regulation. Aleksander Barkov placed his team-leading 28th goal of the season. Jonathan Huberdeau compiled his league-leading 68th assist of the campaign. Giroux got the secondary assist and now has four assists in his two games with the new organization. 
     Neither squad scored during the overtime period. Florida won in the shootout when Barkov converted on the Panthers second attempt.
