Bruins Shut Out Panthers

The Florida Panthers wrapped up last place in the Eastern Conference as they were defeated by the Boston Bruins 3-0 on Sunday at TD Garden. The Cats went 0-4-0 on their four-game road trip in which they were outscored 20-5 and now have lost six straight games.
Boston(27-12-5) scored early in the game at 3:03 of the first period as Jaromir Jagr was able to get a wrist shot from the high slot by Jacob Markstrom. Jagr tied Phil Esposito for most game-winning goals in NHL history with 118. It was his 16th goal this season and his 681st of his NHL career.
The Bruins extended their lead in the second period when Dougie Hamilton fired a slap shot from the right point at 13:33 after the Panthers turned over the puck in their own defensive zone. The B's outshot the Cats 21-10 in the second period.
Florida(13-26-6) pulled their goalie from the net with over two minutes left in the third period. The Panthers were unable to convert with the extra skater as Brad Marchand put the puck into an empty net with a backhand shot.
Tuukka Rask picked up the shutout for the B's as he stopped 28 shots and took his record to 18-9-4. Markstrom made 36 saves on 38 shots and fell to 6-8-1. Both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play in the contest. The Panthers, with three game remaining in the regular season, return home and face the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.
