Phils Slip By Marlins

The Philadelphia Phillies pulled out a low-scoring victory over the Miami Marlins 2-1 on Sunday at Marlins Park. The Fish have lost seven of their last eight games.
Philadelphia(6-6) got the first run of the game in the sixth inning. Ryan Howard led off with a double into left field and Michael Young followed with an RBI single against Kevin Slowey to center field.
Miami(2-10) tied the game with a run off Roy Halladay in the seventh inning. Justin Ruggiano had a one-out single to right field and advanced to second on a Rob Brantly walk. Chris Valaika knocked in Ruggiano with a base hit into left field.
The Phillies retook the lead in the ninth inning against Jon Rauch. Laynce Nix smashed a one-out solo home run to right field on a 1-1 pitch for his second homer this season.
Halladay went eight innings and allowed one run on five hits as he improved to 1-2. Slowey pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up one run on nine hits. Rauch took the loss and dropped to 0-2 as he surrendered the game-winning hit and run.
