Chris Bosh hit a go-ahead game-winning three-point shot from the top of the arc with 1.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter as the Miami Heat slipped by the San Antonio Spurs 88-86 on Sunday night at AT&T Center. Both teams entered with the two best records in the NBA as the Heat increased their playoff home court advantage to three games over the Spurs.
The Heat rested LeBron James and Dwyane Wade for the game as a response to their previous meeting with San Antonio back in November at Miami when Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich sent Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Danny Green home prior to that game.
Miami(58-15) scored the first seven points with a shorthanded roster, but San Antonio(55-18) led 24-22 after one quarter. The Spurs increased the gap to eight points late in the second quarter and were up 45-40 at halftime.
The Heat went on a 26-13 rally in the later part of the third quarter and were ahead 71-64 after the period. San Antonio led 86-83 with 1:21 remaining on a Tim Duncan basket and would be held scoreless for the rest of the way. Norris Cole made two free throws with 32 seconds to go before Bosh nailed a go-ahead shot with 1.1 seconds left to make it 87-86.
There was no Big Three for the Heat as Bosh had a team-high 23 points and nine rebounds in 37 minutes. Ray Allen dropped down 14 points with five assists in 31 minutes off the bench. Cole added 13 points and Mike Miller scored 12 points.
Several Spurs picked up a double-double in the game. Duncan got a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds in 35 minutes while Kawhi Leonard had 17 points and 11 rebounds in 37 minutes. Tony Parker contributed 12 points with eight assists and five rebounds in 37 minutes.
