The Miami Heat began their playoff run to repeat as NBA champions on Sunday night with a 110-87 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in game 1 of the Eastern Conference first round at American Airlines Arena. The Heat were ahead the whole entire game as they led from wire-to-wire.
LeBron James fell short of a triple-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in 35 minutes of play for the Heat. Dwyane Wade had 16 points, five assists and five rebounds in 32 minutes while Chris Bosh contributed 15 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes. Ray Allen, who played his first postseason game with Miami, came off the bench with 20 points in 29 minutes.
Brandon Jennings, who was the only Bucks player that scored in double figures against Miami on April 9, knocked down 26 points in 33 minutes. Monta Ellis delivered 22 points and four steals in 39 minutes.
Miami scored the first seven points of the game and got up 21-8 six minutes into the game. Milwaukee finished the first quarter on a 16-5 spurt and were down 26-24 after one period. The Heat held a small lead throughout the second quarter and led 52-45 at halftime.
The Heat put in nine consecutive points early in the third quarter, moved into a double-digit margin and were ahead 80-65 as they headed into the fourth. Miami went on a 16-8 run at the start of the final quarter to put the game out of reach.
