Marlins Ninth Inning Comeback

The Miami Marlins pulled off a dramatic ninth-inning comeback with two runs and beat the New York Mets 2-1 at Marlins Park on Tuesday night. The Marlins have won three straight games for their longest winning streak this season.
New York(10-15) got the lead in the fifth inning against Kevin Slowey. Daniel Murphy led off with a double into left and advanced to third on a fly out to center by Ike Davis. Murphy then scored on an Anthony Recker sacrifice fly to left field.
Miami(8-19) posted two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to get the victory. Pinch-hitter Chris Coughlan started with a single to left field off Mets starting pitcher Jeremy Hefner and would go to second on a wild pitch. Coughlan got to third and beat the tag on a fielder's choice from the catcher as Juan Pierre reached first base on the play. Brandon Lyon came in to relieve for Hefner. Donovan Solano hit a single to shallow right field as Coughlan scored to tie the game and Pierre raced to third. After Placido Polanco was intentionally walked, Pierre scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch while Greg Dobbs was at-bat.
Slowey went eight innings for the Fish and gave up one run on four hits and struck out eight. Hefner pitched eight-plus innings and allowed two runs on four hits, struck out eight and fell to 0-2 this season. Ryan Webb upped his record to 1-1 as he threw one perfect inning.
