Florida Panthers television game analyst Denis Potvin announced his retirement from broadcasting on Monday. He finished his second stint with the club on Fox Sports Florida. He worked a combined 21 seasons announcing Florida Panthers contests.
Potvin, who captained and captured four Stanley Cup titles with the New York Islanders during the early 1980s, joined the Panthers for their inaugural season in 1993-94 alongside play-by-play announcer Jeff Rimer on Sports Channel Florida. He also worked with Dave Strader and Steve Goldstein in the Fox Sports Net Florida booth on Florida Panthers television broadcasts.
His contract was not renewed by Fox Sports Florida after the 2008-09 season and he was employed as a freelance game analyst by several Canadian broadcasting companies for the 2009-10 season. Potvin did Ottawa Senators games on Rogers Sportsnet as a television game analyst for four seasons until that company lost the television rights to TSN following the 2013-14 season.
He rejoined the Panthers in August 2014 and replaced Bill Lindsay in the television broadcast booth. Potvin worked the next five seasons announcing Panthers game broadcasts alongside Goldstein.
