Former Florida Panthers head coach Kevin Dineen has joined the Anaheim Ducks organization. He will be the head coach of the San Diego Gulls. which is the Ducks American Hockey League affiliate, for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
Dineen ended the longest playoff drought in NHL history when he led the Florida Panthers to their first playoff appearance in 12 years with a 38-26-18 record back in 2011-12 season. They lost to the New Jersey Devils in seven games during the Eastern Conference quarterfinals on a double overtime goal by Adam Henrique.
He spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach under Joel Quenneville with the Chicago Blackhawks. The team won a Stanley Cup title in 2015. Dineen and Quenneville were let go by the Blackhawks last November.
