Padres starting pitcher Chris Paddack faced his former team as San Diego beat the Miami Marlins 3-2 at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. Paddack pitched a no-hitter through seven innings. The Marlins have lost eight of their last 11 games.
San Diego(46-49) compiled three runs during the top of the fourth. Greg Garcia knocked in Manuel Margot on a base hit into center field. Austin Hedges followed with two-run homer to right-center field on the first pitch for his seventh home run of the season.
Miami(35-58) finally got a base hit in the eighth inning to break up the no-hitter. Starlin Castro lined a solo home run to left-center field on a 1-0 pitch and expanded his hitting streak to 11 games.
The Marlins rallied in the ninth inning. Castro hit a single into shallow right field and Miguel Rojas crossed the plate to make it 3-2. Curtis Granderson struck out with a runner on third to end the contest.
