The Washington Nationals handled the Miami Marlins 3-1 at Nationals Park on Wednesday night. The Marlins lost their third straight contest and sixth of their last 10 games.
In the sixth inning, Washington(44-41) took a 2-0 lead. Juan Soto lifted a two-run homer to left-center field on a 0-2 pitch and Juan Soto scored in front of him.
The Nationals made it a three-run lead in the bottom of the eighth. Matt Adams crushed a solo home run to right-center field on a 0-1 count.
Miami(32-52) had the bases loaded in the ninth inning when they broke the shutout. Cesar Puello was hit by a pitch and Neil Walker crossed the plate.
