Canucks Can Panthers

It was Roberto Luongo Night in Vancouver as the Canucks handled the Florida Panthers 4-0 at Rogers Place on Thursday night. Luongo was inducted into the Canucks Ring of Honor in a pregame ceremony. He played goalie for the Panthers and the Canucks during his NHL career.
The Panthers were shut out for the second straight game. The Cats now have a 1-2-0 record on their five-game road trip. Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko collected his sixth career shutout.
Vancouver(20-9-1) moved out to a 1-0 lead at the 4:03 mark of the first period. Andrei Kuzmenko got his sixth goal of the campaign on a snap shot from the low slot past Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Canucks extended it to 2-0 with 6:08 remaining in the first. Dakota Joshua put in a backhand shot from the right of the crease for his fifth tally this year.
In the second period, Florida(17-10-2) gave up another goal at 10:08 and they were down 3-0. Bobrovsky gave the puck away on a bad pass and Joshua found a wide-open net with a wrist shot from the slot area for his second goal of the contest.
It became 4-0 for Vancouver on a 5-on-3 power-play goal with 4:20 left in the second. Brock Boeser backhanded a shot from the blue paint for his NHL-leading 22nd goal of the season.
