Panthers Hold Off Lightning

     The Florida Panthers pushed by Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 at Amalie Arena on Wednesday night. The Panthers return home for two games prior to the new year.
     Florida(20-12-2) took a 1-0 lead at the 4:16 mark of the first period. Aaron Ekblad collected his first goal of the season on assists from Gustav Forsling and Aleksander Barkov. 
     The Panthers made it 2-0 at 1:23 of the second period. Sam Reinhart placed in a wrist shot for his 20th goal of the campaign. It was his seventh straight season with at least 20 goals. Evan Rodrigues and Barkov were credited with assists on the play. 
     Tampa Bay(17-14-5), who are tied for the most games played this season, cut it to 2-1 just 29 seconds into the third. Nikita Kucherov snapped a shot for his 24th goal this season. 
     It became 3-1 for the Cats with a shorthanded goal at 3:11. Reinhart released a wrist shot for his second tally of the game and 21st goal this year.
     The Lightning answered back quickly on the man advantage 20 seconds later and closed it to 3-2. Michael Eyssimont chalked up his sixth goal in 2023-24 on a wrist shot.
