Panthers Soar By Stars

     The Florida Panthers downed the Dallas Stars 5-4 on Wednesday night at Amerant Bank Arena. The Panthers snapped a three-game home losing streak. 
     Florida(15-8-2) got out to a 1-0 lead at the 4:39 mark of the first period. Evan Rodrigues scored his fifth goal of the year on a snap shot from close range. 
     Dallas(14-9-3) tied it 1-1 with 6:18 to go in the first. Radek Faksa fired a slap shot for his for his second tally in 2023-24. 
     The Cats reclaimed the lead 2-1 with 1:46 remaining in the period. Sam Reinhart put in his 17th goal of the season as he snapped a shot from the low left circle. 
     In the second period, the Panthers struck quickly 24 seconds into the frame for a 3-1 lead. Carter Verhaeghe collected his 12th goal this season on a snap shot. 
     Two former Panthers would help the Stars even it up 3-3. Mason Marchment scored on the power play 39 seconds into the third period and Evgenii Dadonov followed at the 4:15 mark. 
     Florida made it 4-3 just 37 seconds later. Reinhart shot the puck and it went wide right of the cage. It bounced off the end wall and Aleksander Barkov flipped in a shot from the right of the crease for his eighth goal of the year. 
     The Panthers put in power-play goal at 8:00 for a two-goal margin. Rodrigues chalked up his second goal of the contest as he picked up the rebound and placed in a wrist shot from the slot area. 
     Dallas made it 5-4 on the man advantage with 7:34 remaining in the third. Thomas Harley smacked a slap shot from the left point for his sixth goal.
