Chaminade-Madonna And Clearwater Central Catholic Title Preview

     The Chaminade-Madonna Lions face the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders in the FHSAA Class 1M state championship game at Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee on Thursday. It is a rematch from last year's title game between both high schools. The Lions knocked off the Marauders 49-14 in the 2022 state championship battle. 
     Chaminade-Madonna(13-0) reached the championship game for the eighth consecutive year. The Lions have captured five state titles in the last six seasons and six state championships overall. Chaminade-Madonna have outscored their opponents 631-137 this year. The Lions are currently on a 37-game winning streak. They blew out Avant Garde Academy 67-0 in the regional semifinal, blanked Cardinal Newman 40-0 in the regional final and easily defeated Archbishop Carroll 47-7 in the state semifinal. 
     The Lions have Cedric Bailey at quarterback to lead their offense. He will throw the ball to talented wide receivers Jeremiah Smith, Joshisa Trader, Kyle Washington and Denairius Gray. Running back Davion Gause is expected to get most of the carries followed by Arwin Jackson, Jaquari Lewis and Javarius Robinson. 
     Clearwater Central Catholic(13-0) returns to the state title contest for the second straight season. The Marauders have outscored their opponents 461-209 this season. They beat Indian Rocks Christian 42-14 in a regional semifinal, got by Carrollwood Day 45-41 in a regional final and held off Trinity Christian Academy 39-32 in a state semifinal. 
     Marauders quarterback Jershaun Newton can run and pass out of the pocket at anytime. The majority of carries will go to running backs Justin Stephens and Nasir Hutchinson. Newton looks to find wide receivers Caleb Goodloe, Shamar Rigby, Artevian McClellan and Koen Thill downfield.
