The St. Louis Blues shut out the Florida Panthers for the second straight time this season. It was a 4-0 victory for the Bluenotes at BB&T Center on Friday night in Sunrise. The Blues blanked the Panthers 7-0 back on October 5.
The Cats finished their longest homestand of the season with a record of 1-3-2. They have now won two of their last 12 games.
Derek Roy scored the only goal for St. Louis(8-1-2) in the first period at 15:41 with assists from Chris Stewart and Kevin Shattenkirk.
The Blues blitzed Florida(3-8-2) with three goals in less than six minutes during the second period to cushion their lead. Stewart put his first tally this season at 5:21, Alex Pietrangelo blasted in a goal on the power play with an assist from former Panther Jay Bouwmeester at 7:06 and Alexander Steen scored his NHL-leading 12th goal this season with 9:18 to go in the second.
Brian Elliott stopped all 31 Florida shots and picked up the shutout to improve his record to 1-0-1. Jacob Markstrom fell to 1-5-2 as he allowed four goals by the Blues on 23 shots.
