The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders will finish the regular season as they travel to Deerfield Beach and face the Bucks at Butler Stadium on Friday night. Both schools won district titles this season and will play at home in the FHSAA regional quarterfinals. The Raiders blew out the Bucks 45-0 when they met last year.
St. Thomas Aquinas(8-1), who enter this game on a six-game winning streak, captured the District 15-7A title last week with a 16-6 road win over the Plantation Colonels. The Raiders will host Miami Springs in a regional quarterfinal at Brian Piccolo Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on November 15. They have outscored their opponents 282-25 in their last six regular season games.
The Raiders will come out with a moving attack with running backs Madre London, Deltron Sands and Johnnie Gaines carrying the ball from the backfield. They have a slew of wide receivers for quarterback Wade Freebeck to throw to which includes Devante Peete, Jawuan Harris, Corey Holmes, Sean Bender and Damon Arnette.
Deerfield Beach(9-0) are undefeated and rolled through their eight-team district to win the District 11-8A title. The Bucks are home against Flanagan on November 15 in a regional quarterfinal. They have scored at least 26 points every game this season.
The Bucks may have the most depth in their backfield than in school in Broward County. Running backs Brandon Powell, Aaren McNeal and Alex Pierre can break into the open field at anytime on a rushing attempt. Quarterback Denarious Graham, who transferred from Blanche Ely along with Pierre after last season, has great mobility in the pocket. He will fling screen passes to his running backs and also throw long passes to wide receiver Justin Morgan.
