The Glades Central Raiders will have a tough task as they face the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes in a Class 4A regional semifinal on Saturday night at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami. Booker T. Washington is the defending FHSAA Class 4A defending champions.
Glades Central(5-5) had a rough regular season with their best win streak being only two games. The Raiders have momentum at the right time as they came back from a 21-point deficit at home against the Pahokee Blue Devils in the Muck Bowl and won 23-21. They still won two district games to finish as the District 7-4A runner-up.
The Raiders will be led by quarterback Giovanni Lugo as he mounts the offensive attack. They can get good rushing attempts from running backs Jerry Jones and Keith Clemones. Numerous targets that Lugo can throw the ball to includes wide receivers Ronquivion Tarver, Jamarius Way, Jonathan Istache and Isiah Johnson.
Booker T. Washington(10-0) is the top team in Dade County, Florida and in some national polls the number-one ranked school in the United States. The Tornadoes ran the table during the regular season. remained undefeated and won the District 8-4A title. The highlight of their season was in their second game of the season with a 28-17 victory over the Miami Central Rockets, who were considered the top team in the nation, the state of Florida and in Dade County at the time.
Quarterback Treon Harris can set things up on offense for their team and he will run plays out of the option. Wide receivers Deltron Hopkins and Lamar Parker can be threats downfield for the passing game of Harris. Running backs Mark Walton and Krondis Larry can make rushing attempts when necessary.
