The Miami Marlins radio broadcasts will move to 940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM as of the 2014 season. The team had been on 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM for the last six seasons from 2008 until 2013 and simulcast on 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM during the 2013 season. The Marlins original radio home was at Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM from 1993 until 2007.
It is expected that play-by-play announcers Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner will return to the Marlins radio broadcasts. The Marlins broadcasters are decided by the baseball club and not by the radio rights holder.
Miami Marlins broadcasts will be mostly be on the air during weeknights on 940 WINZ as Petros Papadakis and Matt "Money" Smith who are piped in from Fox Sports Radio will now be rarely heard on the station as of April 2014.
790 The Ticket and 104.3 The Ticket will likely add a show during their night hours now that they do not have the Marlins rights. The likely candidates at the station to become the new evening host could be late night host Brian "The Beast" London, morning producer/sports anchor/Sunday morning host Brendan Tobin, fill-in host Zack Duarte and sports reporter Josh Friedman.
