It has remained the same during the fall when 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM ended up as the top sports station for the third consecutive month in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region. They slightly increased their margin over Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM.
104.3 The Ticket went to an upward trend for the third straight month from a 1.1 to a 1.2 in November. They got a bump based on the social buzz at the start of the season for the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat. News that the station lost the radio rights to the Miami Marlins this month will not dent their ratings. It was the final ratings period for their program director Tod Castleberry who was let go. In his 20-month reign his sports stations finished first ten times, tied for first seven times and finished second three times.
560 WQAM remained the same in the month of November as they stayed flat at a 0.8. The not so good start by the Florida Panthers along with a losing stretch by the University of Miami football team did not help. The audience is now use to the change of personnel from several months ago in the stations new programs.
940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM saw a drop in their ratings for the first time since June. They fell from a 0.5 to a 0.4 in November. The momentum that the Miami Dolphins had at the beginning of the NFL season is gone. The station did pick up the Miami Marlins radio rights and should find an audience with the lost of Fox Sports Radio during evening hours as of April 2014.
