It is a battle between two defending FHSAA champions and two of the top teams in Class 4A as the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes play at the University School Suns on Friday night in a regional final. Both teams won state championships last year in Orlando as the Tornadoes captured the Class 4A title while the Suns won the Class 3A title.
Booker T. Washington(11-0) is undefeated and have been on a roll since their win during the second week of the regular season over Miami Central. The Tornadoes have won every game this year by at least 11 points. They have outscored their last four opponents 184-39. They routed the Glades Central Raiders 40-18 last week in a regional semifinal at Traz Powell Stadium.
The Tornadoes offense will run plays out of the option with quarterback Treon Harris. He can pitch the ball out to running backs Mark Walton and Krondis Larry for them to get by the line of scrimmage. Look for Harris to fire passes to wide receivers Deltron Hopkins and Lamar Parker down the field.
University School(9-2), who began the year with seven consecutive victories, lost two road games during the regular season to powerful schools in Manatee and Miami Central. They blew away Gulliver Prep 47-7 in a regional semifinal at home last week.
The Suns have a balanced rushing attack with running backs Jordan Scarlett and Lajuan Hunt in the backfield. They will use the passing game as a second option as quarterback Sean White looks to find wide receivers Chris Taylor and Sam Bruce for receptions.
